On March 1, 1959, Frank Sabo and a group of Northern
Ohio Aviators received a Charter from the
Experimental Aircraft Association forming
EAA Chapter 50 in the Sandusky Area.

In 2008, Lori Douglas received a 3rd place
National EAA Award for our Chapter Website as Editor.
In January 2008, Chapter 50 created a Boy Scouts
Aviation Merit Badge Program.
We've held 25 events awarding 325 Merit Badges
to Boys from 22 different Troops.
In 2024, Chapter 50 received a Bronze Chapter award
for the continuous progress we have made.
In 2025, Chapter 50 purchased its own Hangar at Hinde Field.
