Our EAA Chapter 5 Summer Youth Aviation Camp 2024 is officially in the Logbook! This year’s camp, a specially designed camp for kids in grades 7 through 10 with a real interest in AVIATION, was deemed a huge success!
The summer camp was held at the Geauga County Airport in Hangar 3 from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm. Students actively participated in learning about aerodynamics, parts of a plane, flight operations, careers in aviation; developed skills in map reading, riveting, woodworking & building; and were given opportunities to tour the airport facilities, build a drone and to “fly” on flight simulators in the Flight Simulator Lab. There were daily activities such as glider flying contests & scientific experimentation, as well as recreational fun activities too.
Space for the camp was limited to 18 students to allow for more hands-on opportunities.
If you didn't get in this year, stay tuned for information about next year's camp. The dates for SYAC 2025 will be July 7th through 11th. Visit this website in March to download the 2025 application. The camp will be open to a maximum of 18 new campers only.
