At this month's chapter meeting we hosted four air traffic controllers from ORD tower and Chicago TRACON, two of whom have previously worked at EAA Airventure. They gave a fascinating insight into what it takes to work in some of the world's busiest airspace, the training and day-to-day life of air traffic controllers, some challenges facing the future of the industry, and answered many member questions about flying in and around the Chicago area.

On Thursday we gathered at the Warbird Heritage Foundation hangar to hear about a couple of programs that do lifesaving work. Two of our own members are involved in these lifesaving organizations. Peyton Metzel discussed “Life Line Pilots” and Bob Hamilton talked about “Angel Flights”. These are both great organizations that provide an avenue for us to give back. I encourage anyone to get involved.

On Thursday at the Warbird Heritage Foundation hangar we gathered to discuss the future of Chapter 414, with dinner provided.
Saturday May 20th 2023 (0900 CDT) - Flying start
Waukegan National Airport (Margie Freeman's hangar), Waukegan, IL
EAA Chapter 414 held it first ever Flying Start Gathering, hosted by Margie Freeman from her hangar. We had 23 participants: 7 pilots and 12 participants (5 of who signed up to be new chapter members!). We look forward to welcoming them at our future meetings and events.
Thursday Mar 23rd 2023 (1900 CDT) - Chapter meeting: EAA Flying Start and Young Eagles programs
At our March meeting Margie Freeman shared information about our efforts to participate in the EAA Flying Start program, and Patty Ramsdell talked about our upcoming Young Eagles events. We really need everyone on board to make both of these programs a success. If you're interested in becoming involved in either or both of these programs please contact Margie (Flying Start) and Patty (Young Eagles).
Saturday Jan 21st 2023 (1100 CST) - Swap meet / Hangar sale / Hot dog social
2860 W. Plane Rest Drive, Waukegan, IL
EAA Chapter 414 held our our first ever Swap Meet / Hangar Sale / Hot Dog Social this Saturday. We encouraged members to bring any aviation related stuff that you would like to get rid of and that someone might like to have, including avionics, books, flight bags, hangar items, to aviation art. We offered hot dogs, chips, and refreshements.
Sunday Dec 4th 2022 (1600 CST) - Holiday party & 'Toys for Tots' drive

Our Annual Chapter 414 Holiday Party was held at the Warbird Heritage Hangar on Sunday, where we also held our ‘Toys for Tots’ drive where members donated new, unwrapped toys to donate to this worthy cause.
Saturday Nov 19th 2022 (1000 CST) - Dan & Jill Feldman workshop/Bearhawk tour
This month's chapter gathering was at Dan & Jill Feldman’s workshop, where we were given a tour of the workshop and a look at progress on Dan & Jill's Bearhawk. This was a don’t-miss event for anyone building, past or future builders, or just anyone interested in what it takes to build an airplane.
