Ray Aviation Scholarship

EAA Ray Aviation ScholarshipThrough the generous support of the Ray Foundation, EAA provides up to $11,000 to deserving youths for their flight training expenses, totaling nearly $1,200,000 in scholarships annually.

The program is supported by more than 100 EAA chapters, and supports close to 120 scholars.  

Each year, our chapter typically supports one scholar, between the ages of 16 and 19, in the form funding and mentorship to help him or her earn their pilot certificate.  We are currently accepting applications for the scholarship we will award in the Spring of 2024.

 

 

Young Eagles Camp Campership

Chapter 29 provides support each year for campers to attend the Young Eagles Camp.  The camp itself is held at the EAA national headquarters in Oshkosh, WI and are typically during the last two weeks of June.  We are currently accepting applications for 2024 camps.

The EAA Young Eagles Camp is designed as an introduction to the wonderful world of aviation. This program will use small group activities and close counselor relationships to present the basics of flight in a "science camp" format that is a unique combination of fun and discovery.  Camps are

Activities at the EAA Young Eagles Camp are designed to interest and challenge 12 and 13 year olds and include activities such as:

Airplane Wing Construction - Learn the intricacies of a fabricated wing by building a wing rib.

Aeromodeling - Build and fly a simple balsa glider and a rubber powered model.

Ground School - Learn the basics of flight through an interactive computer simulator ground school by flying designed missions or flying your own mission.

Airplanes - Learn about aviation history and flight.

  • Tour the EAA AirVenture Museum
  • Visit Pioneer Airport
  • Watch flight demonstrations
  • Experience the thrill of flight in both an airplane and helicopter

 

 

Basic Air Academy Camp Campership

Chapter 29 provides support each year for campers to attend the Young Eagles Camp.  The camp itself is held at the EAA national headquarters in Oshkosh, WI and are typically during the first two weeks of July.   We are currently accepting applications for 2024 camps.

The EAA Basic Air Academy Camp is the next exciting step through the world of aviation. Each "hands-on" activity is developed for the intermediate 14- and 15-year-olds during a classroom and media presentation, specialized laboratory activities, and aviation-related demonstrations.

Activities at the EAA Basic Air Academy are designed to interest and challenge students and include such activities as: 

Aeromodeling - Build and fly a simple balsa glider and a rubber-powered model. 

Airplanes - Learn about aviation history and flight.

Ground School - Learn the basics of flight through an interactive computer simulator ground school by flying designed missions or flying your own mission.

Tech Workshop - Build an ACRO-Sport Wing Rib, construct an instrument case out of sheet metal, and design an airfoil using composite material.
