EAA Chapter 22

Cottonwood Airport, Rockford, IL

Foundation

The Rock River Valley Aviation Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding aviation safety and knowledge through public education and awareness.

The Foundation was formed by a group of local aviation enthusiasts on December 29, 1992. Tito Nappi provided the initial gift of a hanger located at Cottonwood Airport to fund the Foundation. The Foundation has used this generous gift of and attractive meeting facility to conduct programs for Northern Illinois aviators and the general public.

Topics of the Foundation's programs range from information on opportunities in aviation to the discussion of technical advancements and achievements in aviation. The Foundation's activities include existing programs developed by other aviation organizations such as the Experimental Aircraft Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Federal Aviation Administration, University Programs, and programs developed by the aviation industry. The Foundation conducts its programs without any charge to the general public.

In the future, the Foundation plans to develop additional topics and activities.

These may include displays and/or programs to depict the local history of aviation, activities to promote interest in aviation by young people in schools or youth groups, or demonstrations of the newest aircraft building techniques and designs.

The activities listed above are limited only by the availability of funds and volunteer help. The Rock River Valley Aviation Foundation, Inc. has received approval from the IRS for its status as a 501(c)(3) organization and is a registered charity in the State of Illinois. Therefore, contributions made to the Foundation are deductible for income tax purposes. If you or someone you know is interested in the goals of the foundation or is interested in aviation programs, please contact EAA Chapter 22: eaachapter22@gmail.com.
