Young Eagles Flight

EAA Young Eagles

Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17, an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

It’s the only program of its kind, with the sole mission to introduce and inspire kids in the world of aviation.

Today, the Young Eagles program has flown over 2 million kids. For more information from EAA headquarters about the Young Eagles program, visit www.youngeagles.org

Follow these steps to get involved in Young Eagles!

Young Eagles flights are available to youth ages 8-17, and are provided by EAA volunteers. Many flights are conducted at EAA chapter-hosted Young Eagles rallies, while other are provided on a one-off basis. Youths must complete a Young Eagles flight to access the other four steps of the Flight Plan.To schedule your flight reach out to our EAA Chapter Coordinator.

An EAA student membership is available FREE of charge to any young person age 8-18 who has completed a Young Eagles flight. Student membership provides access to the same benefits and resources as regular EAA membership. Young Eagles can activate their student membership one of two ways.

    • Option 1 – When registering for a Young Eagles flight via Young Eagles Online Registration, youth can opt in for their membership.
    • Option 2 – Following a Young Eagles flight, youth can activate their membership by visiting  EAA.org/Student and entering the unique code located on the back of the Young Eagles Logbook provided after the flight.
If you are unsure of your membership status, you can email membership@eaa.org.

Learning about the world of aviation can start at any age — and AeroEducate is designed for students K-12, no matter where you are on your journey. Have fun with aviation-based activities that you can do at home or get hands-on with aviation at your local airport!

Take this private pilot ground school, free of charge ($299 value), so you can take the first step in training to earn your pilot certificate. Once completed, EAA will even reimburse you after you pass your FAA Knowledge Exam! ($175 value)

Your enrollment in Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course is completed when you activate your EAA student membership.

After completing the first three volumes of the Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course, you’ll qualify for a free first flight lesson at a flight school of your choice ($130 value).

Sporty’s will contact EAA once you complete the first three volumes, and EAA will then mail you a waiver to be signed by your parents. This waiver is sent back to EAA, and once received by EAA your voucher will be emailed with instructions on how to redeem it.
