Next Gathering: Thurs., May 15th
Members of EAA Chapter 1686 -- and anyone who is curious to be -- are warmly invited to attend!
Topic: "Civil Air Patrol" with Hugh Merriam
When: Thursday 5/15, Doors open at 6pm, Agenda 6:30 - 7:30pm
Where: Oakland Aviation Museum - 8252 Earhart Rd, Oakland, CA 94621
Imagine that you’re happily flying when the unthinkable happens: an emergency forces you to land off airport. Who will look for you? How will they find you and get you to safety?
It’s a good bet that the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) will be the ones to save you. This auxiliary division of the U.S. Air Force is always prepared for search and rescue missions at a moment's notice. They are also always preparing for future capabilities with programs for Youth Development and Aerospace Education.
Our chapter’s own Hugh Merriam will provide an overview of the CAP organization and its mission of, "Volunteers Serving America’s Communities, Saving Lives, and Shaping Futures." Come and find out why there is a lot more to CAP than just red, white, and blue airplanes.
We hope to see you there!
Frankie Ridolfi
