About Us
Chapter 790 members are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our Chapter. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Lake In The Hills Airport (3CK), in the airport office (occasionally referred to as the ‘old NIFC building’) - everyone is welcome.
In addition to our monthly meetings, chapter activities include an annual banquet, a summertime pancake breakfast, Young Eagle rallies in the warmer months, a monthly flyout to a local airport (generally for breakfast) and visits to member's aircraft projects. We have also awarded scholarships to local youth interested in aviation, and have mentored three Ray Aviation Scholars.
In 2019, we received the Silver Chapter Recognition level. This program was created to recognize chapters that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to general aviation. Developed in partnership with EAA’s Chapter Advisory Council, it’s based on 10 criteria that are consistently found in active and engaged chapters. Each is worth a point, and there are three levels of recognition: bronze (7 out of 10), silver (8 out of 10), and gold (at least 9 out of 10).
