EAA Chapter 515

Fort Collins / Loveland, CO

Welcome to EAA Chapter 515

Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our chapter. We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Unless otherwise posted below our monthly meetings are the first Tuesday of each month @6:30 pm in the Jet Center Hanger at the Northern Colorado Regional Airport in Loveland, CO.  Please come to our next meeting or event as our guest.

For more information on our chapter, please contact our president via the contact us page or visit us on Facebook.

News and Events

Our next meeting:  Our next meeting will be Tuesday February 4th.  Snacks at 6:30, meeting starts at 7:00pm in the JetCenter main hangar at the Northern Colorado Regional Airport (KFNL).  Please remember to have your requests for Airventure Chapter Camping in by meeting time.  We will be drawing for camping spots if we have more campers than the available 6 campsites.

This month we are going to be looking at a new Viper SD4 LSA airplane.  This airplane is a 2024 model and fits into the current LSA category.  Currently the airplane is being used for Sport Pilot training and the owner will discuss the reasons for selecting the Viper over many competitors and his experience so far flying.

Late last year the aviation community lost another great builder and pilot Bill Cherry.  Bill was a Navy Lieutenant Commander, HP Engineer and a builder of at least one RV6.  Sadly now his family is looking to sort his hangar and sell his aircraft.  I offered up a few of our members to assist in identifying airplane parts and tools in a small group to help. Tentatively Pat from his family will attend our meeting and offer the chance to go see the RV6, Lycoming engine, tools and avionics that will be offered for sale in the future.  The goal is to help come up with a plan and assist Pat on a path forward.

Our chapter has submitted a Ray Aviation Scholarship for 2025 in memory of Sue Wolber, so now the waiting game.  EAA will select recipients by the end of February so I really hope this comes through.  If we do not get awarded this time we can discuss as a chapter if we can finance our own scholarship.
