Welcome to The Green Mountain Flyers
Whether you fly, build, restore, or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, we invite you to attend our events and chapter meetings. We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together to share stories, exchange information, encourage safety, and serve the local aviation community, and have as much fun as we can doing so. Please join us at our next event or meeting.
About EAA Chapter 968
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 968 is the central Vermont branch of the international EAA. The EAA is an organization devoted to promoting sport aviation, including antique and classic aircraft, home-built and kit aircraft, and warbirds, along with cutting-edge new-technology aircraft development. Chapter 968 members own various aircraft from taildraggers and home-builts to general aviation aircraft. Members are restoring aircraft as well as constructing planes. And we have members who are simply aviation enthusiasts, who are not pilots but just enjoy the aviation culture.
Our chapter organizes several Rutland-area events such as Young Eagles flights for the region's youth and Eagles flights for adults. These programs are conducted to both introduce and promote aviation at no cost to the attendee. We also host IMC Club and VMC Club programs, which are open talk sessions for both pilots and enthusiasts in which we promote proficiency and safety. We also conduct a few fly-in breakfasts to promote ourselves and help defray a portion of our operating costs.
General meetings and events are held at the Rutland Airport (KRUT). Chapter members and non-member aviation enthusiasts are always welcome. Business and administrative meetings for officers are held periodically. Visitors are always welcome!
The only requirement for joining our chapter is a love for aviation and a desire to share the camaraderie of fellow aviation enthusiasts.
