4/17 7PM General Membership Meeting, EAA Chapter 88, 3612 N Webb Rd, Wichita, KS (KAAO, under the beacon light). This month will be John O'Leary from Airbus. Airbus is1 developing aircraft designs that are aimed at reducing the climate impact of flying. This mostly focuses around liquid hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels. John will be speaking on this topic.
Prior to joining Airbus, John attended the United States Naval Academy, the Naval Postgraduate School, and Wichita State University graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, a Master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, and his MBA. Following graduation from the US Naval Academy in 1983 he spent 11 years in the Marine Corps as a Naval Flight Officer in EA‐6B Prowlers, achieving the rank of Major before
settling in Wichita. John also spent nine years in engineering and program management at
Raytheon Aircraft supporting various production and new aircraft development programs.
In the U.S., Airbus Americas Engineering has over 500 employees split between two offices; one in Wichita, Kansas and the other in Mobile, Alabama. The Wichita office is engaged in aerostructures design and analysis of aircraft primary structure such as wings and fuselages for all major Airbus products. The Mobile, Alabama office is engaged in the design of cabin interiors and systems for the entire range of Airbus products from the early stages of development through production support, and onwards to aftermarket upgrades and cabin reconfigurations.
John currently serves on the Board for the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing Institute (ARM) and as Chairman of the Board for the Wichita Aero Club. He also serves on the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee for WSU Tech. He is an instrument rated private pilot and enjoys flying as often as possible. John and his wife Laurie live in Benton, KS and have two grown sons.

5/1 The Hutchinson Regional Airport Open House and Fly-In. www.prairieskiesairshow.com Events include: Lockheed T-33 Fly-By, AC-47 Gunship "Spooky", C-45 Expeditor, UC-78 Bobcat, C-1 Trader, Cirrus Vision Jet, Water Drop Demonstration, Free Airplane Rides for Kids (Young Eagles by EAA Chapter 88), Weather Balloon Demonstration, Pancake Breakfast (EAA Chapter 88) and Food Trucks on Site
5/15 11AM until (no evening meeting) Fly In at 3KS5 High Point Valley Center, KS. Bring a dish or dessert. This will be the EAAs annual fly-in luncheon and is open to ALL friendly pilots! It will start at appx 11:00 AM and lunch will be served at noon. Please bring your favorite covered dish, the EAA will provide hot dogs. Looking for a great day and a lot of fun and some really neat airplanes. If flying- The pattern is 800 feet and east of the runway. The radio frequency is 122.9. Airplane parking will be on the west side of the runway only. We do not want planes on the East side so to keep people from crossing the runway. This event will be rain or shine. If we have had rain please call Dave Blanton 390-3193 or Doug Moler 207-8331 to check runway condition.
