Chapter 857

Pittsburgh-Butler Region Experimental Aircraft Association

EAA Ford Tri Motor Tours to KBTP

Periodically the EAA has a variety of aircraft including their B-17 and B-25 WW2 bombers on tour in various regions of the country.  This tour program also includes a pair of vintage commercial airliners, the venerable Ford Tri-Motors.  The following website contains references to the histories of the Model 4-AT-E and 5-AT-B aircraft that the EAA flies for these tour events.   The 4-AT-E is the EAA owned Ford Tri-Motor in Eastern Airlines livery.  The Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton Ohio also tours for the EAA in their 5-AT-B marked with the TAT logo.

2015 Ford Tri-Motor Visit to KBTP

A vintage 1928 Ford Tri-Motor Model 5-AT-B from the Liberty Aviation Museum in Port Clinton OH visited Butler County Airport on July 9 through 12, 2015. Rides were offered to the public on this historic example of the airline industry with a total of 47 flights made over the duration of the event. The event started with a photo op featuring the Tri-Motor and a line up of vintage Fords from a local Butler County Ford Car Club.   Check out the photo gallery tab in the menu column at left. See also a video of the aircraft here.

The Ford Tri-Motor Tour returned to KBTP in 2022!

On September 8-11, 2022 the EAA tour of the Ford Tri-Motor once again stopped at Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport on their regional tour.  EAA Chapter 857 previously hosted this historic aircraft tour in 2015.  A photo gallery for the most recent visit has been added to the menu at left.
