The EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship is a scholarship program that is funded by the Ray Foundation, managed by EAA, and administered through EAA Chapter 75. The Ray Scholarship provides up to $11,000 to support a student’s private pilot license training.  If selected, the Ray Scholarship funding will process from the chapter treasurer to the Student’s flight instructor / school.  The student / parents do not receive direct funding.

Initial Eligibility Requirements

  • Age 16-19 for powered flight training

  • Possession of FAA medical certificate (private pilot students)

  • Possession of a student pilot certificate

  • Be able to begin flight training within 60 days of receiving the award

  • Must be able to volunteer for Chapter service a minimum of 2 hours per month

  • Must be able to schedule at least 3 flight lessons per week

Application Evaluation

EAA Chapter 75’s Ray Scholarship Committee will evaluate students who meet the above minimum requirements to determine the best candidate for the Scholarship.  The evaluation factors will include, but not limited to:

  • Application, Essay, and in-person Interview

  • Volunteer work & involvement in Chapter 75 events

  • Participation in Young Eagles Flights

  • Completion of Young Eagles Flight Plan

  • School Academic Advisor Evaluation

Additionally, EAA Chapter 75 will ask that parents/guardians become members of both EAA Chapter 75 and EAA National organizations if not already.
