History
Chapter 663 received its charter from the Experimental Aircraft Association on March 13, 1980. Located in Livermore, California, the Chapter is known as a "Builders Chapter" that is, with emphasis on the construction of homebuilt aircraft. As seen on our "Member Aircraft" page, many nationally recognized aircraft have been crafted by Chapter 663 members, with even more winning awards at the local level. Today, our membership numbers over 110 aviation enthusiasts.

Technical Counselors
EAA Technical Counselors are experienced airplane builders who visit other EAA members while building an aircraft. The goal of the Technical Counselor Program is to help EAA members present a “zero defect” aircraft at its final inspection by the FAA. Chapter 663's Technical Counselors have been involved in the construction of over 50 homebuilt aircraft and include a FAA licensed mechanic/inspector.
Flight Advisor
The EAA Flight Advisor program helps with everything from finding pilot instruction to setting the tone and planning for the first first flight of a homebuilt aircraft. Chapter 663's Flight Advisor has participated in over 30 first flights. Contact us for more information.

About EAA
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is a growing and diverse organization of members with a wide range of aviation interests and backgrounds. EAA was founded in 1953 by a group of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their own airplanes. Through the decades, the organization expanded its mission to include antiques, classics, warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters, and contemporary manufactured aircraft.
More than 250,000 people currently belong to EAA, with over a 1,000 Chapters located in all 50 states and many foreign countries. Members are aviation enthusiasts of every age group, including airline, military and commercial pilots, engineers, business people and even astronauts.
Our members enjoy all types of airplanes, including "experimental" aircraft, those aircraft built by individual craftsmen, rather than in a factory. "Experimental" refers to the category of aircraft designed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for these types of airplanes. Similar to standard category aircraft, Experimental aircraft are inspected and certified airworthy by FAA.
EAA's corporate offices and extensive AirVenture Museum are located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. EAA hosts one of the world's largest general aviation events, the annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Fly-In. The event draws over 10,000 aircraft to Oshkosh each summer and has an attendance exceeding 600,000.
