EAA Chapter 524

FREDERICK, MD

RV 10 Work Session #12

Steady progress continued on the RV-10 today. The crucial connections that join the tail cone to the fuselage were the main focus. The overlapping longerons were carefully aligned, clamped in place, and match drilled. Then they were bolted together with four bolts on each side. The forward turtle deck portion of the tail cone skin was then clecoed in place and parts of it match drilled for later riveting. Meanwhile, Tom worked on drilling out and preparing the mount for the left side static port. The tail cone will soon be removed once more to install the static ports and prepare everything for final riveting by dimpling and countersinking where required. The next work session will be Thursday evening January 23rd at 6:30.
