Airline Dispatch
Wednesday March 13th, 6:30 PM
Buffalo-Lancaster Airport KBQR
4343 Walden Ave, Lancaster NY

We all know that airlines have dispatchers, but just exactly what does a dispatcher do?  What role do they play in maintaining a safe and efficient air traffic transportation system and what’s a day in the life of a dispatcher look like? Sarah Sudyn is a private pilot and  a former flight attendant but currently is a dispatcher working for a major airline based in Dallas. She will explain the responsibilities of dispatchers per the FARs, She will describe how dispatchers interact with pilots in developing flight plans using weather, company policies, operation specifications and various manuals.  She will show how an airline flight plan is developed, go through some day to day scenarios and describe a dispatcher’s input into emergency events and procedures. Anyone who is familiar with Sarah knows that this will be a lively, thorough and very entertaining discussion.

If you have a tablet or iPad with airport and approach charts such as ForeFlight, please bring it with you since it will be useful in building a flight plan during the presentation.

The meeting starts at 6:30 PM at Lancaster Airport 4343 Walden Ave, Lancaster NY 14086, with Sarah's presentation beginning at 7:00 PM.  The meeting is free and open to anyone with an interest in aviation or history.
