Here is an article that EAA members will be interested in. I know you will all miss going to Sun 'N Fun this year. Here is an article from 1978 Sun 'N Fun event. I chose this year because it's the year that I flew my first aircraft and first flight in any type of airplane. I had just graduated from high school in the city of Grand Island, NE and was working at Chief Industries doing manufacturing work with metal buildings and grain bins. My dad took me to my first air show at our local city airport when I was 10 years old. I was amazed at all the different types of aircraft and wanted to take one apart. I walked through a Connie Lockheed Constellation and wondered how did they put this together. What a plane! After that I had dreams of flying over the city for years till summer of 1978 when I decided to spend half day of my wages of $19 to take an introduction flight from a Cessna flight training center at our local airport. I got into a brand new Cessna 172 and the instructor took the aircraft up and allowed me to take the controls. I flew that aircraft for one hour of flight time over our city. When the instructor landed the aircraft he asked if I had any flight time before this, I told him no , but did practice in my dreams. The flight for that hour was just what I seen in my dreams. Leonard McGinty of Thonotosassa, Lyle Flagg of Brandon and Gordon Knapp of Tampa were all Chapter 175 members and held leadership in chapter over the years. Enjoy the reading.
