EAA Chapter 1696 is based at Astoria Regional (KAST) at the mouth of the mighty Columbia river, and serves the North Oregon/South Washington coastal region. The chapter has a growing membership and fosters aviation through the efforts of local members and coordination with partners including the Port of Astoria, Astoria Aviation, and EAA national. Recent chapter items of interest include:
- Partnering with the Port of Astoria and USGS to host the annual Astoria Airport Open House & Fly-In
- Introducing many kids to flying through EAA's Young Eagles program
- Bringing an AME to the area periodically to help local pilots can get their medicals
- Coordinating visits by a Pitot-Static technician to help local aircraft owners get their required checks
Meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month at 11:00 A.M. The default meeting location is the Astoria Airport FBO building, 1110 SE Flight Line Dr, Warrenton, Oregon.
