We're one of many chapters of the Experimental Aircraft Organization, an international organization with over 200,000 members world-wide. The EAA helps local communities to better connect with aviation, and we seek to help to do just that.
We are based at the Tri-County Airport in Bonifay/Chipley, which serves Holmes, Jackson and Washington Counties in the western Florida panhandle as well as serving as a feeder airport to Panama City, Destin and Dothan.
We introduce young people to the magic of flight through our Young Eagles Program which has provided over 2.2 million free rides to young people ages 8-17. We charge NO fees; these rides are provided by experienced and licensed pilots in order to introduce young people to flight.
Our chapter provides local scholarships young men and women who plan for a career in aviation (not just pilots!) and we encourage our members and local business leaders to contribute. (We're looking to help local young people to become airline or corporate aviation pilots-- or to become avionics technicians or airframe & powerplant technicians-- or to become air traffic controllers.)
We support air shows and Fly-In events, from AirVenture each summer in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to local shows and fly-ins close by or not so close by. See our calendar of events.
We support the EAA's Flight Advisor program, which helps pilots to conduct self-evaluations as well as evaluating flight characteristics of aircraft with whom our members have familiarity.
We meet the second Saturday of each month at the Tri-County airport for breakfast (9 am) in the Tri-County FBO "break" area and for discussion in the FBO main conference room from 9:30-10:30 am. Check out our calendar of events.
