Chapter 143

1401 Diffendall Road, Essex MD

Welcome to Chapter 143 - Essex Skypark in Essex, Maryland

EAA Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our Chapter.

We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots in the Baltimore, MD area who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Please come to our next meeting or event as our guest.

Monthly Gatherings

We typically hold our Chapter Gatherings/Meetings on the first Saturday of each month at 9:00am in either the FBO or the Community Hangar at Essex Skypark in Essex, MD.

Weekly Build Sessions

Besides our monthly gatherings, members are in the community hangar almost every week building something. Currently, chapter members are building a Sonex kit plane, an Afordaplane ultralight, and pedal planes designed for kids to "fly" around the hangar during chapter events.

If you're interested in attending build sessions, you can add yourself to our GroupMe channel for details:

Community Involvement

As an incorporated non-profit entity, Chapter 143 gets involved with the local community. Here are some ways we get involved:

  • We support the annual Wings & Wheels drive-in/fly-in, hosted by our airport association
  • We support a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) program for youth. Click the link to the left to learn more.
  • Taking kids for their first ride in a small airplane is an important way to share our love of aviation with the community. We support EAA's Young Eagles program by donating FREE airplane rides to local kids under 18. Click the link to the left to learn more.
  • Kids aren't the only ones that like to fly. We also support the EAA's Eagle Flights program by donating FREE airplane rides to people over 18. Click the link to the left to learn more.

If any of this sounds interesting to you, we'd love to have you join us.

All are welcome.
