Chapter 54 fly-in breakfast

Lake Elmo Airport has a new frequency, KennethFlying in?

Welcome to Lake Elmo Airport (21D). We're happy you can join us for this year's big fly-in. The pilot-in-command eats free. You'll obtain a ticket from a marshal or aircraft greeter. In addition, we have several categories for judging aircraft: best homebuilt, best vintage aircraft etc.  The winner will receive a plaque, which will be mailed to you. If you wish to have your aircraft judged, pick up a prop placard from a greeter and be sure to turn it in upon departure.

21D is an untowered airport so planning and adherence to procedures is important.

We love our neighbors and strongly encourage you to be aware of and follow our "Fly Neighborly" procedures to minimize noise and disruption to our friends. Some highlights are:

  • Runway 32 is the preferred runway
  • Follow PAPI
  • The traffic pattern is 1,000 feet agl (1933 msl) for propellor-driven aircraft.
  • Keep traffic pattern legs as short as possible and close to the airport without risking safety.
  • See the maps for designated runup areas.
  • All turns in the traffic pattern are to the left

The breakfast is being held on the South Side of the airport, very near to the airport beacon.
