Eagle Flights

Eagle FlightsEAA’s Eagle Flights® is a free introductory flight experience and informal mentoring program designed to welcome and encourage adults who want to discover flying, but don’t know how or where to take that first step. It begins with a hands-on introduction, where you’ll fly with a local EAA-member pilot who will let you follow along at the controls of the airplane to get a feel for what being a pilot is all about.

After the flight, he or she can help you learn more about how to get involved in your local aviation community, including the next steps you can take on the path to becoming a pilot.

The best part? The whole experience is free. No sales. No pressure. Just a whole lot of fun and education with a big take-home point: Your dream of flying is a lot closer than you think.

We Are Hosting a Flying Start Event
EAA Chapter 5 is hosting a Flying Start Event on Sunday, May 19, 2024 in Hangar 3 of the Geauga County Airport in Middlefield.  The event is geared for those adults (18 and older) who are interested in learning to fly. This is the third bi-annual event for the chapter.
In order to participate in the Flying Start Event, you must pre-Register online at https://flyingstart.org?673 or flyingstart.org.  Enter your zip code, follow the link to "Register for Event" and follow the prompts.  Early registration is encouraged because seats to participate are limited.   You should plan to arrive between 2:00 pm and 2:15 pm for the Social / Meet and Greet.  At 2:30 pm we will sit down for a Classroom Presentation on how to become a pilot, with information needed to pursue your dream to "learn to fly."  Around 3:30 pm, you will be paired with a Mentor Pilot who will take you outside to see his / her airplane for the pre-flight experience before your Eagle Flight.  We hope to do the Eagle Flights that day, but if there is inclement weather, they will be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon date, time and location.  There is no cost for the Flying Start Event and your Eagle Ride is also FREE.     If you have any questions, please feel free to email, text or call Sherry Niederkorn, Flying Start Event Coordinator, at sherry.niederkorn23@gmail.com or 440-477-1198.
