Chapter 22 Rockford, IL

Hanger at Cottonwood Airport

Ron Voss

Getting my private pilots license around 40 years ago was one of my life’s greatest thrills.  Trying to fly much after that became hard due to the time/money balance.  I rarely had both at the same time.

Scratch building an airplane came to the rescue 20 years later.  Buying materials a little at a time as I slowly built my first airplane was the only way I thought I would ever be able to afford to own my own airplane.  Little did I realize that building aircraft was so addictive.

Last year I completed my fifth airplane and am now helping a friend finish his project.  The thrill of making that first flight in an aircraft that you have built yourself is simply amazing.  If this sounds like something that would interest you, I would encourage you to check out EAA Chapter 22 to meet like minded individuals to learn more.
