EAA Chapter 123 Poker Run Rules
- Card Collection: Cards must be picked up at each designated stop along the Poker Run route. Players are not permitted to collect all cards at one stop. Cards should be drawn one at a time and shown to the EAA representative for verification and to record on tally sheet. No duplicate cards can be used. Participants must draw an additional card if an identical card is drawn.
- Multiple Hands: If you are playing more than one hand, you must present a second Poker Run Tally Sheet to be marked BEFORE each card is drawn. ONE tally sheet per hand purchased to play!
- Final Stop (KODO South Ramp): Upon reaching the final stop, players will submit all registered hands.If you purchased more than one hand, you should have ONE tally sheet per hand purchased.
- Ties: In the event of a tie, a high card draw will determine the winner (a Showdown).
- Eligibility for Winnings: Pilots must be present at the final stop to claim any winnings.
- Final Decisions: All decisions made by the event judges are final.
Poker Hand Rankings (Highest to Lowest)
- Royal Flush: A run of sequential cards from Ten to Ace, all in the same suit.
- Straight Flush: A run of sequential cards in the same suit (but not Ace-high).
- Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank, plus a pair (e.g., four Aces, four Kings).
- Full House: Three cards of the same rank, plus a pair (e.g., three Aces and a pair of Kings).
- Flush: Five cards of the same suit (not sequential).
- Straight: Five sequential cards (not necessarily in the same suit).
- Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank (e.g., three Aces, three Kings).
- Two Pair: Two sets of pairs (e.g., a pair of Aces and a pair of Kings).
- Pair: Two cards of the same rank (e.g., two Aces, two Kings).
- High Card: If no other hand is made, the highest value card in your hand determines the winner.

A Poker Run is an aviation-themed event where participants fly to different airports, pick up playing cards at each location, and then use their best hand to compete for prizes. The event is both a fun flying challenge and a way to raise funds for the chapter.
2. How do I register for the event?
You can register online through the registration form on this page. Just fill out your details, submit your payment, and you’ll be all set!
3. What is the registration fee?
The registration fee is $50 per participant. This fee covers your entry into the event, helps support our chapter and includes lunch. You may also choose to purchase more than one hand to better your odds. You can purchase up to 3 poker hands at a discount.
4. Do I need to register my aircraft?
Yes, if you're flying your own aircraft, you will need to provide your aircraft's type and registration details when registering. If you're a passenger, only your personal details are needed.
5. Can I register for more than one hand?
Yes! You are welcome to register for up to 3 hands and collect as many as 15 cards during the event for better odds at a winning hand.
6. What is the route for the Poker Run?
The Poker Run will take participants to 5 different local airports. The exact route and map will be provided to all registrants prior to the event. Be sure to check the event details section for more information.
7. How do I know if my registration is confirmed?
Once you complete the registration form and submit your payment, you will receive a confirmation email with your registration details. If you don't receive an email, please check your spam folder or contact us.
8. When is the registration deadline?
The deadline for registration is May 1, 2025 at Midnight. Make sure to sign up early to secure your spot and avoid last-minute stress!
9. What do I need to bring to the event?
Be sure to bring your pilot's license, medical certificate (if applicable), and a valid ID. You should also bring cash for any additional purchases, such as food and drinks at the end of the event.
10. Will food be provided?
Yes! We will have hamburgers and hot dogs available for purchase at the final destination. Registered persons will have lunch included.
11. What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If the weather is not suitable for flying, the event will be rescheduled, and all registered participants will be notified promptly. Be sure to check your email or our social media pages for updates on the day of the event. Our selected secondary date for this event is the following weekend, May 10, 2025.
12. Are there prizes for the winners?
Yes! The best poker hand will win a grand prize, with additional prizes for other categories like second and third place. We will also have door prizes to give out. Check the event details for more on the prizes.
13. Can I bring a passenger?
Yes, you may bring a passenger along. If they plan to participate, they need to register separately.
14. Can I participate if I’m new to Poker Runs?
Absolutely! Whether you’re an experienced pilot or new to poker runs, this event is about having fun and supporting the chapter. If you're unsure about any aspects of the event, don’t hesitate to contact us for more details.
15. How will the event be conducted on the day?
On the day of the event, leave from your home airport and fly to any of the stops on the list. Make KODO your last stop, as that is where we will all gather to hand out the prizes and eat a great meal together.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds once registration is completed. However, if the event is canceled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will work to reschedule and accommodate registered participants.
